The Southerner shook her head swiftly almost eager at the chance to interact. Spending time with peers proved to be fleeting and precious so she valued it despite its brevity. “It’s alright,” she reassured the other girl as her brow knit in concern. Her voice had often been lost in the shuffle among her brothers and father so she was familiar with repeating herself. “I think it’s good to express oneself. It isn’t healthy to keep it all inside, right?” or so said the girl that bottled up every negative emotion possible.
❝Ahaha, you’re right about that! Nothing good ever comes of keeping it all inside. Sooner or later, you’re liable to explode.❞ Not that she was really one to talk, either. Kagome was…an old hand at ranting and speaking on and on without pause, but there was just as much that she refused to share with anyone. Even Sango didn’t quite get the full run-down of every single thought that passed through her mind, and THAT was saying something. ❝If you’re sure – I could use an ear. I mean, not a physical ear; a metaphorical one!❞
“Hey, no one’s concerned here, ya’ dig? You just keep bringing the guy up so what the hell? I just figured I’d ask.” Her words were definitely contradicted by her reddened hue, that was for certain. He assumed Kagome missed this mystery person a good deal to constantly remind him that she was reminded of this other guy with only his mere presence. That, or she just happened to be one hell of a talker. “Oh, I’m the annoying one. Says the girl who keeps comparing me to some other guy. Listen, Kags, I’m sorry about your long distance relationship, but don’t forget I’m one in a million. Besides, I bet he can’t even pull off a pompadour like me.”
❝LONG DISTANCE – You know what? Just forget I ever mentioned it!❞ Huffing loudly, she crossed her arms across her chest and turned her head away, attempting to remember to breathe. ❝You’ve got some nerve, honestly…Anyway, pompadours are stupid and overrated. What are you trying to prove? That you’re some kind of delinquent? You don’t really need any help there, do you? Mr. ‘I’m the Worst Punk’!❞

This was a question that had indeed plagued her, on occasion. It was a little difficult not to think about such things, when others kept throwing up the ‘facts’ into a person’s face. ‘Reincarnation’ this, ‘destiny’ that – Things definitely became a little confusing when you’re suddenly sucked into a well and drawn into the past.
❝I’m not sure. I think…maybe it’s possible. Sometimes, it definitely seems as if fate,or the kamis (maybe even both )decide these things before we’re even born.❞ After all, it couldn’t be some strange coincidence that Kagome just happened to be born into the family that cared for quite possibly the only magical well left in all of Japan that happened to double as a link to the Feudal Era – No coincidence that she could practically pass as a body double to Kikyo, or that she happened to meet Inuyasha. None of the things that had happened since her 15th birthday could convince her that the universe hadn’t conspired with whatever power was out there to bring all those events about; it was too not planned to not have been planned. Or something. ❝A part of me kinda hopes that’s so. That no matter where ( no matter when) we’re born, we’ll always meet again. You know? Ahaha, I’m sorry; that sounds a little silly, right?❞
“Don’t be such a hard-ass, Kags.” He responded, ignoring her demand to be called by her actual name rather than the nickname he had assigned her. It fit, didn’t it? So why not call her it? That aside, he was growing steadily curiouser by her comparisons to Yusuke and this mystery fellow she kept referring to. “Okay, okay– I get it. There’s someone like me. Well? You always this vague or are you gonna tell me who this guy is? Your boyfriend maybe?”
❝Excuse me? Didn’t you hear what I just – ❞ I’ll take that as a sound ‘no,’ then. Breathe, Kagome. Attention effectively averted upon hearing his not so subtle demand for clarification, a light flush crossed Kagome’s cheeks, and she cleared her throat before answering. ❝No, but I didn’t think you’d be that concerned about it, anyway. He’s definitely not my boyfriend, so forget about any indirect flattery! This person is someone I knew once, a long time ago. He’s kind of annoying and persistent, so I guess you two must be related, somehow.❞
